I've been catching myself doing this a lot lately, among other Denglischisms.

  3. Yeah, I did the same with my mother language French and German at first. My letters to my french family were funny to read, they told me :-)

I found it disturbing that I couldn't find translations in my mind for some words the German people used every day: "Das ist so gesund", "Oh, wie gemütlich...", "Mahlzeit!"...

    1. Yeah, some words are just untranslatable and handy! At mealtimes I still have to say "itadakimasu" (basically "Guten Appetit" in Japanese) before I eat just because I've done it all my life. It's frustrating because you really don't have any equivalent in English!

    1. I can usually keep Japanese out of the mix, but I mix up English and German ALL the time. Although that's not entirely true...I totally mix Japanese and English when I talk to friends who understand both. EEK!
