For jo/ja/ju/ji the Japanese よ・や・ゆ・（じ） is closer to the German than English though, or? So what about - Julia or Jana? It took me a while to find a word in English with a "yo" sound to explain the pronunciation of my name.
Yeah, but somehow I've been conditioned to think that J sounds like j in jazz and not like y for so long! Yeah...English word starting with "yo"...Yolk? Yogurt? haha
