ha! had to go there yesterday too, wednesday. seems we missed each other. they're a pest before xmas! i wasn't as lucky as you were, had to pay vat for a gift. small amount, but most annoying of course is having to make the trip in the first place. found a nice and easy way to get there though: through the park from rathaus schöneberg station!
Haha, you too, no way! Sorry you had to pay VAT though, that really blows. I walked from S-bahn Innsbruckerplatz and I walked WAY too far (through the dark, muddy park and further north) before I realized the numbers were decreasing. But yes, the worst part was the extra trip I had to make there after uni! Boo!
Just a tip, if it's not a present but something you bought, you can send in the papers you got from them and the bills (like from Ebay or Paypal). They'll calculate it without you having to open it and if you'll have to pay the fee you'll have to pay at the delivery. Because you'll get the parcel send to you then. No unnecessary traveling to the customs office :)
