I almost feel like it's reversed. When I was young, I was quite picky about who I hung out with. Now, I just look for a pulse...except for my bride. I got lucky right from the get go.
I think I got lucky because I was still at colander-status when I first came to Berlin and was making friends with everyone. I don't know if I would have been so open and friendly now. It's not bad to be picky, but I also feel a bit like I'm closing myself off from the rest of the world...maybe I need to move up to coffee filter again!
