Everyone seemed to enjoy the fact that my dad takes a Looney Tunes lunch box to work, so I drew a follow-up (not)comic.

Typewriters and Environment and Such
Holy. I turned 26 today. I feel strange about that for some reason.
Wonderful day so far: G baked me a chocolate cake, made me breakfast, and showered me with presents, including a beautiful red typewriter!
About an hour after that, G got the results for his written Staatsexam and found out that he'd passed with an awesome grade! Whoop!
Heading to the therme and sauna to celebrate later on. Yay!
And here are some environment-related comics. I know. Totally unrelated, I know. I drew them yesterday.
Par-tay!

Pretty Nipples?
Mind you, this happened at a funeral . . .
My grandma needs and will do anything (as seen here) to get attention. So yeah, she got it, but needless to say, it got excruciatingly awkward after that.
I can't believe I'd completely forgotten about this awesome story.

Doodles
I don't have much Bonsai-energy today so instead I'm being lazy and posting doodles from my little notebook that B gave me for Christmas. I tried to draw slightly more detailed (read: not stick figures) caricatures of people often illustrated in my blog. Ha!
Also, I usually wear glasses, but I'm too lazy to draw them in my comics. Yes . . . I'm a pretty lazy person.
Here's G and my friend B. G's head isn't actually that big. It's my head that's rather large. |
Here are my parents. My dad takes a Looney Tunes lunchbox to work. |
I don't know what we're surprised about, but I like this one. |

Bonsai and Tights
(Literal) Bonsai news! My friend Jikki sent me an awesome build-it-yourself bonsai calender for the year 2012 and I couldn't resist putting it up on my blog. Thank you J!
But yes. Went running today to escape the hectic hubbub at home (my parents are packing for their trip to Japan). I always feel a little bit self-conscious when I wear my running tights . . . but they're stretchy and comfortable and warm.
Yes. Go ahead and make fun of me.

Assholes Cover
Been very productive today. Finished putting together and creating the cover for my Asshole series. Assholes #3 and #5 ended up being personal and actually not very interesting, so I won't be posting them here, but they are included in the booklet.
Just in case you haven't read them yet, here are Asshole #1, Asshole #2, and Asshole #4.
I'm not 100% satisfied with the stories, but I like the cover. I'm just afraid there's too much black/white/grey in my portfolio. I think it's time to go buy some coloured construction paper.
My mom saw my booklet-in-process yesterday and said, "Asshole? What do you mean, asshole? Did you write about the anus?"
Right. Moving right along.

Assholes: world edition. (well, the only edition) |

Took me forever to cut the super-simplified world map out without tearing it! |

The Power of Japanese Television
Just finished cleaning out squid innards and eyeballs. My hands smell squiddy. eee.

Blood Type
Fact: Asians are big on analyzing personalities according to blood types. I heard this story from a friend of mine a few years back.
I have a feeling this series is turning into "Awkward First Meetings with Asian Moms".

White Lie
Second update! It's one of those days where I can't take two steps without coming up with an idea for a drawing or a comic. It's distracting but awesome.
Inspired by T of Mehblog's comment about compiling quirky intercultural/international couple confessions, I thought it would be fun to collect all the funny stories about inter-couples I know and to draw them. I don't know how it would all work out, but it would be great if I could gather enough for a little booklet or something.
I'm still loosely brainstorming and playing with the idea, but let me know if you have any awesome anecdotes to share that you're willing to let me use!
Anyway, this one is a funny one I heard from a friend of my mom's. They've since been married for 30+ years.

Overactive Salivary Gland?
This is just a theory, but I think my salivary gland is overactive. While this wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but it does cause me drool. A lot. I drool gallons when I'm sleeping, which is a given (and gross). I also drool when I'm focused, so I did this a lot as a kid.
For some reason, I found this really embarrassing as a kid and never told anyone or tried to hide it. I still find myself over self-conscious, but blogging helps. I think. Eh?

Jobs I Fantasize About
Am in the middle of compiling and organizing my portfolio in preparation for next month. I just finished pasting all my comics into one book and will make a cover for it soon.
Still need a few more works, but in the meantime . . .

BOOYAH!
Went to my language school to pick up my C2 German exam results. I passed! With much better marks than expected! BOOYAH!
Okay, so I was actually a little bit sneaky because the exam just got more difficult starting this January (I took mine in December right before the change), but as of last December it was the highest level that you could achieve. So yes. Patting myself on the back. :)
That being said, there's still lots to learn:
Yup.

Running out of Assholes
I know I've only drawn two stories, but I have to admit that I'm running out of assholes.
Rather, I know plenty of assholes but I'm finding myself wondering what that key anecdote was that made them assholes in the first place. Often times they're just a lot of small things that they did or said, and sometimes these things affect you more than you think it should and you end up blowing up the asshole in your mind over time.
I drew Asshole 3, but it just ended up being kind of pathetic. So I'm skipping right over to Asshole 4, which I will draw today.
This is harder than I thought it would be. Huh!

Assholes I've Known in My Life
I was randomly inspired to start a new series called "Assholes I've known in My Life." Thankfully I haven't known that many, but assholes make for funny comic subjects. So yeah. Anyway, here's a long foreword if you feel like reading it. If not, jump right into the first of the five assholes. (Wow, that sounds wrong. But funny. So I'm going to keep it like that. HA!)
*The names of the assholes have been changed to protect (or something like that) the privacy of the assholes.

Carbohydrates
Happy New Year! The guests are finally gone, and I've had a day of eating and laziness with my family.
I hope that the year 2012 will be an awesome one for everyone. 2011 was a sad one for Japan, and a strange one for me personally. But it was also the year I started dating G, whom I love more than . . .
Phew. That's probably the most romantic declaration of love you can get out of me. Anyway, I'm thankful for all the wonderful things that happened to me in 2011. Now . . . onwards and upwards!
