Where Pigs Fly and Horses Puke
Hello!
Just a little update about an illustration project I did at the end of last semester (I blogged about it really briefly in February). The course was called "Wildes Berlin" (Wild Berlin) and we had to illustrate animals in some relation to Berlin. I'm kind of obsessed with languages, so I decided to work with animal-related sayings/idioms in Japanese, English, and German. I selected sayings with similar meanings and visually combined them -- which is kind of what goes on in my linguistically confused head! You can check out the entire book here!

Two Minutes
And if you are like me and spend 15 hours a day watching animal videos, here are the videos I'm referring to:

tierisches chaos
G's dad, G, and I have been renovating the kitchen all day today, and therefore I am too pooped for a comic. Instead, here is the superbizarro Photoshop collage I made for school this week. Is it weird to see my non-comic stuff?

Sparrows
I reeeeally enjoyed drawing this strip. I think I enjoy drawing animals in general. Speaking of animals, G and I went to the Tierpark (we have a year pass) the other day and he got to pet a lemur. He was pretty excited.
In other news, we are leaving Berlin for a four-country trip in two days. TWO DAYS. HOLY SHIT. I haven't even packed and I've been having mini-panic-attacks off and on for the last four days because I'm a very, very paranoid person (until I get distracted because I am very easily distracted). I get so paranoid that I haven't emailed, confirmed, bought gifts for, printed out maps, written down addresses, penciled in dates, etc. etc. And then I get distracted and forget what I needed to do, and then later remember that I haven't done anything and panic. Basically, I'm just an idiot.
Okay. Time to stop being paranoid and distracted and actually do some preparation. I plan on updating everyday as per usual while we're on the move, so keep checking back!

Squirrels are complicated
Why's it so impossible to pronounce in every single language (except for Japanese)? Is it as weird-sounding in other languages too?

Hey Harold
These are the first badgers I've ever drawn. I had to Google them because I wasn't really sure what they looked like. Really quite cute, actually.
But of course, we all know that badgers are badasses.
Freaking amazing.

Pea-Tapir
I'll draw a proper Bonsai later, but just some doodles I doodled late last night. Inspired by the little felt tapir that I saw at the market for 20 euros. 20 euros!
And I did! Cutest public service announcement ever.
| My face turned out really orange. Oops. I was on the phone with G and said "Crap! I painted my face all orange!" and he thought I was talking about my face face. |
| This reminds me of the awesome commercial I saw in Canada about house hippos. Maybe I can find it... |

Escalators = not animals
Here's a semi-oldie from Latvia. Thanks M for reminding me of this anecdote!
I'm going to be running a little 10K race here in October . . . and it's going to go through the zoo! I'm hoping I don't get too distracted by the animals. "Huff huff, 3 more kilometers . . . OMG TAPIR!"
It's very possible.

Bunny
One day in Monbijoupark...
Actually, it wasn't much of a walk. She basically just had it on a leash and stood there as the bunny nibbled on grass. Eventually she picked it up and went home.

Zoos around the World
Did I mention I love zoos? Here are some memorable tidbits from some zoos I've visited in the past . . .
