My MIL was that way. (God bless her soul) Me: Hi Mom. Her: WOW, you sure did get fat...I mean bigger. Me: Thanks Mom.
Haha! At least she kind of attempted to be polite? My mom makes me paranoid about my big fat chubby head!
My parents are also super direct...they just don't realise that stating and commenting on some facts can be insulting. :p The one time I tied up my hair neatly and used some wax mum commented "Why is your hair so MESSY" -_-
