My German actually isn't that bad, but it's always difficult to decipher jokes in a foreign language. I've certainly mastered the "friendly laugh on command".
Oh, I tend to that even in my mother tongue. I'm just easily distracted and don't notice what people are talking about so I just laugh along sometimes.
