NYE Grinch
I'm an absolute Grinch when it comes to Christmas and New Year's. I mean, it's just another day, right? Grumble grumble.
That being said, I hope everyone has a warm, safe New Year's Eve and Day. Don't do anything stupid like SHOOT FIREWORKS AT PEOPLE! (I'm looking at you, Berliners.)

Everbody died
Hello world, Happy New Year! Contrary to popular belief -- I am still alive and well and living in Berlin (as is G)! I know no one will believe me if I say I'll start posting more regularly ("We've heard that one before!"), but I'm going to give it another go. A lot has happened in the past year(s) and I do want to make a few comics about it.
Anyway, Christmas and New Years came and went as usual. I wore my awesome R2D2 t-shirt from Uniqlo to Rogue One, but despite my enthusiasm I couldn't remember any of the character names from the movie. Either my memory's gotten worse, or those darn Star Wars names keep getting more complicated with each movie.

January Challenge
Happy New Year! Instead of making long-term resolutions, I think I will do some of these little challenges this year. We'll see how long this one lasts!

NYE Japanese style
Have an awesome New Year's Eve, however you end up spending it. And if it's not awesome...well, it's just another day.

Carbohydrates
Happy New Year! The guests are finally gone, and I've had a day of eating and laziness with my family.
I hope that the year 2012 will be an awesome one for everyone. 2011 was a sad one for Japan, and a strange one for me personally. But it was also the year I started dating G, whom I love more than . . .
Phew. That's probably the most romantic declaration of love you can get out of me. Anyway, I'm thankful for all the wonderful things that happened to me in 2011. Now . . . onwards and upwards!

Teddy
I can't believe we've got 11.5 hours left of this year. I'm still in denial. Unnnghhh. Then again, I'm just so glad that this crazy Christmas-New-Years-end-of-year-parade-of-family-guests-one-after-another 年末年始 hecticness is coming to an end.
In keeping with my resolution to spend a quiet Silvester this year (though I won't be curling up at home alone as I initially planned), I will be doing something small with G and (maybe) keeping the drinking to a minimum.
Speaking of the end of the year, you know what happened in Samoa yesterday? They jumped forward in time by a day in order to better coordinate business hours with Australia and New Zealand (Samoa was previously 21 hours behind Sydney), which meant that they went directly from Dec 29 to Dec 31. Weird! But cool.
Read more about it here on BBC.
I told my dad about that and apparently he's actually been to both Samoa and American Samoa. Coooool.
On an entirely separate note (I'm always too lazy to do season-appropriate comics. I'll probably end up posting something Christmas-related in the summer.): teddy bears!
Have an awesome New Year's Eve, and see you tomorrow!

Recovering
Had a hugely productive day of shopping with my parents and signing up for a new Deutsch course starting tomorrow despite the cold, from which I am slowly recovering.
I still have a persistent dry cough and general stuffiness, but fortunately no more fever or dizziness. I've learned my lesson. My new year's resolution for 2011 is: take better care of myself on New Year's and on days preceding New Year's. On December 31 this year, I will curl up on my sofa, put in a good movie, stay warm and away from smoke-filled clubs, and drink moderately. I also blame my pathetic immune system on the fact that I've stopped chewing my nails this year. My body let its guard down after I stopped bombarding it with milliards of bacteria and viruses day after day. Hmm. Well, maybe that doesn't make any sense, but it was no fun to be sick. Hurumphnut.
Anyway, we'll see how well I keep that resolution.

Happy New Year!
Happy 2011!
I'm a day late, but I stupidly caught a cold on New Year's so I spent about 15 hours of the first day in bed. I spent my first day of 2011 completely unplugged and Internet-free! I suppose this is good. Plus, my mom has been spoiling me with warm food and fluids so I'm feeling slightly better (ie. I can sit up straight). I think it's time to start getting to work. Phew.
Wishing you all a happy, happy new year!

The Holiday Season in a Nutshell
Went out shopping with Mama. It wasn't quite boxing day, but sales were starting here and there and I even bought a shirt. I'm so proud of myself.
I always feel a bit restless in this after-Christmas-but-before-New-Year's period. I know the worst is over, but there's another yet to come. Christmas and New Years used to be awesome as a kid, and I don't know when I started dreading it so much.
I somehow doubt I'd be saying this if I were working a full-time job. I'll shut up now.
