Who are all these people?

Okay, so it might not only be because I'm easily recognizable, but it's been happening quite often lately. Or maybe I just have a bad memory...

Girl?

The funny thing was, I wasn't really offended because you could tell he was just asking out of curiosity and not because he wanted to be cheeky. I laughed all the way home.

Proper Pronunciation

I think Tze was the first web-cartoonist/comic diary blogger I ever interacted with (Asian girl living in Germany who also does diary comics!), and I'm really looking forward to meeting her in person this weekend. But the downside of a web-only relationship is that...you don't really figure out how to pronounce their names properly. Sorry Tze! I guess I'l find out soon enough.

Anyway, go check out Tze's Meh Blog if you haven't already! She has lots of great illustrated recipes too.

Winter Run

We've started to hit the negatives in Berlin. Brr! Winter really isn't the best season for bespectacled runners. (ps. The featured scarf is the one that my Asian head is too big for...)

So far so good

All is good in Palermo. Aside from two elderly Japanese tourists and three Chinese shopkeepers, we seem to be the only Asians in the city. Lots of Germans, though! And lots of seafood and pistachios.

You can take an Asian girl out of Asia...

In some regards, I'm just Asian through and through.

Aaaaand. It's still not too late! If you're in Berlin tonight, don't miss the chance to hang out with the amazingly talented (and supercuddly/friendly!) Dirk Verschure of Dirk's Big Bunny Blog and other cool cats of the Cheese Mountain Tragedy at the Book Release Party of Dirk's Big Bunny Book! Not only that, local brewery Vagabung Brauerei will also be debuting their superstrong Caffeinated Stout made from espresso prepared by Josh Bauman of Caffeinated Toothpaste. G and I will be there too, so be there or be square!

"Little Noz" Stamp

So yes. Back from G's graduation! Yay, yay! We're so proud of G! Yay!

He's in there, er, somewhere.
Anyway, when we got home,  I got to work on the stamp straight away . . . and here it is! Now that all the components of the mini-comic are done, I can start working on producing more! It's more time-consuming than I imaged so it might take a while before I can make them available online, but the plan is to make 50 by the end of the month.

Zine Zine Zine

I literally just finished printing, folding, cutting, and sewing up the first 10 copies of my first little zine, An Idiot's Guide to Dining with an Asian Mother. Phew. Oh wait. Oh shit. As I was writing that, I just remembered that I forgot to make the stamp that goes on the back cover of the zine. Crap! Ok. It's not completely finished, but soon! SOON! I still want to share this photo and tell the world that I am . . . almost . . . done.

Ok. Off to G's graduation now.

Sixteen?

Technically not a Saturday post, but still a Saturday post! T'was a long day of learning how to use the tablet.

Anyway, this happened to me yesterday while buying a keg of beer at a supermarket. This is either a new high or a new low . . .

Dining with an Asian Mother

I'm working on a silly little booklet called An Idiot's Guide to Dining with an Asian Mother. This was originally to be the assignment for another art college I was applying to, but since I accepted elsewhere, I'm working on slowly finishing it up for myself. Here's a sneak peek at the cover and a page from the booklet. It looks pretty bare now, but I'm thinking of being brave and using some colour (for once!).

Of course, G and Mama are my models.
