First Dream of 2018

In Japan, first dreams of the year (hatsuyume) are said to foretell what the dreamer's year is going to be like. It's commonly known that the three most auspicious things you can dream of are Mt. Fuji, hawks, and ... wait for it: eggplants. I have no idea how dreaming of an eggplant can mean that you're going to have a great year, but this was my first dream of 2018:

The fact that I'm pregnant could be because I was reading Rosemary's Baby (And no, I'm not actually pregnant).

Bridal Party on Wheels

The entire bridal party cycled to the Standesamt (civil registry office) on awesome decked-out bikes, which was superfun! (G biked in style with hiked-up suit pants.)

Get a bell, kid

This made me laugh a lot for some reason though.

Mr. T

Alyways makes me feel a little bit badass.

Riding back from Schöneberg this morning, I passed a guy who was biking at an annoying not-slow-but-not-fast-enough pace. He passed me at the next light (by running a red light), then proceeded to bike extre-e-emely slowly and kept turning back at me and smirking. He seemed to want to talk to me, so I kept my distance and took a random turn at a light and lost him.

I pity the fool. Ha!

Butter Knife

Pathetic, I know.

But look how pretty! I'm going to give my bike a proper clean once the new tube is in!

A Cyclist's Rant

Yikes! It's after midnight, but this is meant to be a Monday update.

I still suck at drawing bicycles.

Himmelfahrt

Thursday was Himmelfahrt (Ascension) and so I was out and about. It was also Father's Day in Germany, but apparently it's also a day for men to go to parks and drink. Or maybe not just in parks. But drinking in general anyway.

More Bremen posts are on their way. But just a little post to make up for my absence yesterday.

Admit it. You are!

Something Exciting

It was actually a sausage stand.

Bicycles are hard to draw. Blargh.

Bonkers

The weather in Berlin today is bonkers. It's raining one moment and sunny with dramatic Baroque-y clouds the next. And the wind! It's freaking me out, so I am staying in until I absolutely need to head out to class this evening.

But yes. It's cycling season once again. I look like a dork on my little red Brompton, but it's so nice to be biking outside.

I also got a new chunk of translation work that I have to finish this week. Boy, am I rusty. I need to work on my next piece for the portfolio, too. I knew my lazy weekend was going to bite me in the ass...and that's exactly what it did. Blargh.

Broke

I broke my computer yesterday. Hence the lack of update...but hopefully I'll get used to going back to using PCs again and editing my photos with MS Paint.

At least it gave me an idea for a comic strip, right? Right? Unngh.

Otherwise, everything is fine. G came with me to get my bicycle repaired on Wednesday, and I've been a happy spring cyclist since. And it's supposed to be 21C on Sunday! Spring is a-comin'.
