Unfashionably Early

I've done this before when I went to a Pakistani engagement party . . . except being on time for that party meant that you were THREE hours early. So yeah. At least I was in the company of other clueless non-Pakistani friends.

But yeah. Our Japanese-German combination makes for unbeatable punctuality. Sometimes.

    1. Haha! Nooo, you guys arrived soon after anyway, and we just went for a walk. But it was funny how overly punctual we can be sometimes...my dad practically believes that being late is a sin, so I was brought up in fear that I was going to get yelled at if I'm more than 10 minutes late. HAHA!

  2. I translate on behalf of southeners (who were so kind to let the teutonic thing that is me live amongst them for years):

If they say it starts at 6, what they mean is around 6 they think about getting ready.

If you want people to be on time, let's say for dinner at 8, tell them it starts at 6, and that it's important that they show up on time.

If they ask why so early, say it's because you're German (my case)/ Japanese (your case) and they will shrug and not suspect a thing.

    works every time.

    1. YES! Definitely true! Although I've met some ridiculously punctual Italians....except they've all spent some time in Japan or they've been living in Germany for a while...go figure!
I think this is why Germany works well for me....there are just so many similarities like the anal punctuality and meaningless efficiency and all that stuff! Aaand I've got an idea for a comic!
