Happy Birthday G!

Today is G's birthday! Hooray hooray! Thanks for providing me with daily comic material, G!

Not Just a Pen

One of my biggest pet peeves from childhood is people not returning pens that I lent them. I try not to be anal about it because some people think they're just pens (they're not), but I am attached enough to most of my pens that I will chase you down the hall to make sure I get it back.

Conked out

Gah! Sorry for the lack of update yesterday. I got home late and started to finish a comic I was working on . . . and then conked out.

So much drool. Ew.

Selling your own work

... is definitely the most amazing and satisfying feeling, ever! There are still about 10 more copies of An Idiot's Guide to Dining with an Asian Mother left, so shoot me an email at horibe (at) gmail (dot) com if you're interested.

Bra Schmra

Hey, it's one less thing I have to put in the wash. It's practical . . . except I have to cross my arms very awkwardly when I have to stop to talk to people.

Open Mic

My friends B, P, and I went to an open mic the other day for the first time. It was a little bit intimidating, considering this guy was performing on stage when we got there . . .

Bolesławiec

Bolesławiec has awesome pottery, but not a whole lot else . . .

The Arrival

Waiting for someone to arrive and walk out of those automatic doors at the airport is definitely one of my favourite moments.

The Process

This is basically what happens when I go to draw my daily strip without an idea in mind: I just sit at my desk and wring my brain for a while until something good comes out . . .  or doesn't.

Personal Hygiene

Seriously. And to think that I was all hesitant about leaving the house without make-up on when I lived in Tokyo. Two years in Berlin now, and I think I've hit my all-time low...and I don't really care, actually. Woo hoo!

Wet and Grumpy

I'm wet and tired and grumpy, grr!

Contrary to what the comic might imply, I actually had a pretty good day. I started a new job, and I got my official student ID and cafeteria card and semester public transport ticket and all that jazz from my art school! Preeeetty sweet!

And drawing this made me feel infinitely better. Drawing comics is very therapeutic and it's made me a much more positive person because whenever anything kind of crappy happens, I know I can use it for my comic the next day. In short: comics makes everything FREAKING AWESOME.

And speaking of which, Josh had a no good very bad day yesterday that he turned into a pretty awesome comic. Oh, and Achtung! There's blood in the comic. :P

Cartoon Innards are Still Gross

Reference to yesterday's post, Spilling My Guts.

Sorry for grossing you out, G! (Not that this is going to stop me from drawing more gross stuff. hee!)

Spilling My Guts

Don't you hate it when that happens?

Maputo meets Berlin

In return for the digital bonsai I gave Iris the other day, I got a present from Alex (of Stuff No One Told Me) and Iris (of Pigs in Maputo)!

That's the first digital toilet seat I've ever received, and it fits our digital butts perfectly. Thanks guys!

If you haven't already, check out their superawesome comics online:

Also, I just noticed that Iris is the only naked one in the picture. hee!

Story Time

The really interesting thing was, we both stopped talking when the story time program came on. I naturally just found myself listening attentively to the story. Weeird.

American Health Care

You might have noticed I'm not a very political person . . . but I thought public health care was a good thing?

Oh yes, and Happy 4th of July!

Caged

She apparently had this dream two nights in a row. Something is seriously wrong.
