Tissue Adverts

I was somehow reminded of this out of the blue.

Oh, free tissues. I miss them.

Please kindly

So it looks like the Japanese part of our film festival might not be happening after all, due to the apparently arbitrary rejection of some legal application. Or something. I don't know the nitty gritty details  (and I don't really want to), but the end result: the Japanese program has to go.

But hey, misery is funny, right? I think the best humor comes out of shitty things that happen, although I prefer them to be happening to someone else . . .

Not the end of the world. But it sucks! Booo!

Lame Excuse

Sorry for the lack of updates in the last few days. Here is my lame excuse!

Depressing Documentary Film Festival

The Pigs in Maputo entry about depressing documentary films reminded me of a conversation I had with G the other day.

Painting on Porcelain

It's still Tuesday in my head, so this counts as a Tuesday entry!

I had a really long and stressful day today that involved riding in an ambulance for the first time in my life and spending a few hours in the psychiatric ward of a large hospital, also for the first time in my life (and neither for myself, fortunately).

I'm still a bit restless and unable to sleep, and the only cure is lolcats.

Basically, I want a 5-plate set of the "invisible series." ie. Like this, but just the kitteh alone:

lol!

Three Dreams

I had a lot of weird dreams this weekend.

They're all almost normal.

Grinding Teeth

My dentist told me a few years ago that I grind my teeth, so I usually wear a night guard to keep myself from destroying my teeth. This is apparently what it sounds like when I don't wear my night guard.

Ok, I understand mills, but galloping horses?

Flash Pan Hunter

I love Tom Waits. But I am never listening to his creepy songs while running in the dark again.

Heebie-jeebies, I'm telling you.

(And thanks T for your feedback!)

Cultural Retard

I don't know what people hope to achieve when they touch stuff in museums when they're not supposed to, but this is what I feel like doing when I see them:

Yeah.

Going to the Store

Also. HAVE YOU SEEN THIS? This may be the most brilliant thing ever. (All right, so I say that a lot, but still.)

Sorry if you found it creepy. I find it kind of creependearing. More about the creator David Lewandowski here

Fun is Relative

My parents can get around in English, but dinner conversations are always a bit tricky. I foresee an interesting trilingual night . . .

Speaking of parents, my mom screwed up her right knee (in addition to her already-busted-left-knee) and my dad his right ankle this weekend. My poor parents are limping around the house . . . scary to see them getting old. eek!

'shopped

Oh, tricky Internets.

But really, I'd kind of like to believe that this photo was not 'shopped.

Best. Party. EVER!

Oh btw, have you seen Art is Better with Cats? If not, you should. Yes.

Not-so-comedic

As of late last month, I've been helping out in the International Comedy Film Festival coming up in December. Basically, my job is to email distribution companies to get quotes for the films we want to screen, but tracking down the films has proved to be more difficult than I'd initially thought.

Yeah. Probably not.

ps. We're showing an Argentinian apocalyptic comedy, Fase 7, at the Filmtheater am Friedrichshain tomorrow at 20:30. (7 euros, 6 euros reduced) Come!

The Weather?

I don't know---but it seems that some people just lie in bed and randomly call customer service for fun.

Conquer your fear fail

Partly as an attempt to conquer my phone-o-phobia, I briefly took a job as a customer service agent after school.

When I left the job three months later, my phobia was worse than ever. (Go figure.)

Don't You (Still) Hate Pants?

The man with no pants, continued.

After we passed each other by, I thought about what could have went through his mind that morning.

Yeah. That must have been it.

Don't You Hate Pants?

I just remembered this incident from about a year ago. You see a lot of weird things in Berlin, but this caught me a bit off guard because it was in broad daylight near Hackescher Markt (v. touristy area).

I don't know about you, but there was just something grotesquely funny about him being fully dressed (inc. socks) except for his pants and underwear.

To be continued.

Facebook Page

I'm always a bit wary of sharing too much information about my life online (too late), so I immediately started to regret it when I started making a BMB page on Facebook. And because I'm a wuss, I also get paranoid that the people I draw about will somehow get offended (they probably wouldn't care). Anyway, this was what I was going through yesterday:

Right. I'm going to go through with this page thing slowly, but in the meantime, here is the link!
