Not sure how it ended up this way, but trying out something a little bit different today.

Not Popeye

I don't think I've ever met anyone who grew up in a houseboat before. It might not be as romantic in reality as I imagine it to be, but it's pretty darn cool all the same.

Story Time

The really interesting thing was, we both stopped talking when the story time program came on. I naturally just found myself listening attentively to the story. Weeird.

Da. Nyet. Da.

Josh of Caffeinated Toothpaste helped me make my first Bonsai strip in ink and I had an awesome time doing it! Huzzah! Merci Josh!

Overactive Salivary Gland?

This is just a theory, but I think my salivary gland is overactive. While this wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but it does cause me drool. A lot. I drool gallons when I'm sleeping, which is a given (and gross). I also drool when I'm focused, so I did this a lot as a kid.

For some reason, I found this really embarrassing as a kid and never told anyone or tried to hide it. I still find myself over self-conscious, but blogging helps. I think. Eh?

Kettle, Law, and Marketa

Okay, so I did want a toy vacuum cleaner when I was a kid, but still.

Speaking of toys, something I recently seriously considered buying is a plush roast chicken.
SO squee!
Oh, and slightly unrelated (but not entirely unrelated), but I have a friend whose last name is Kettle. Cutest last name ever!

And last but not least: G finished his written state judicial exams today! Yay! Well done, G! Par-tay! We're going out to see the talented Marketa Irglova (of the band The Swell Season from the film Once) in concert tonight! Can't wait!

Fold a Crane

It's Friday! Although that doesn't really mean much to me, since I work from home...

I found this awesome toilet paper origami website some time ago, which inspired me to draw this one. This actually wasn't my idea---I read this somewhere a long time ago and thought it was brilliant.

I fear for my children.

ps. Apparently the city of Saitama makes their own cider (Japanese cider = Sprite) and they call it . . . Boncider.

Not bonsai-flavoured, though.

Saitama, you are awesome.

normal

I'd never thought this was weird, but I've been debating it ever since Marlowe pointed it out to me. But I still believe that there must be people out there who used to do the same thing: as a kid, instead of wanting to play house or princess, I wanted to pretend I was freezing in the tundra or wandering lost and hopeless in the woods with my stuffed animals (children) and desperate for food.

I'm still convinced this is perfectly normal.
