24/7

We just got back from our very much needed, very long holiday in Japan and Korea! We had a superawesome time and I'm already back to making poop jokes, so all is good in the world. G is definitely special somebody, seeing how is able to tolerate me for such a long period of time without a break!

Xmas Comic Part 1

Catching up on a few Christmas-related comics before the year ends! Here's part 1, based on an actual dream I had after Christmas dinner at G's parents' place...

Fragmented Memories from Israel

Our Israel trip in a nutshell. I forgot to mention Masada though, which was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. I highly recommend it!

Tel Aviv Day 2

Shalom from Tel Aviv! After a hectic but successful week at the Leipzig Book Fair, G and I are on a well-deserved holiday in Israel. Tel Aviv is warm, sunny, bustling and delicious. I've already eaten two falafel sandwiches in the last 24 hours; I'll see how many more I can eat in the next 7 days. Also, curiously enough, we both got mistaken for someone and asked for directions on our second day. Something about my Japanese face must scream local (yeah, right).

Oh, and in case you're curious, this is how our stand ended up looking like at the Leipziger Buchmesse.  Somebody came by and told us our paper cloud looked like popcorn. Peoples!

Not that weird

Sorry for the irregular updates! I haven't quite organized my thoughts and impressions on being back in Japan for the first time in 3 years, but so far it hasn't been that strange. It also may be because I'm in a town I don't know that well (and not Tokyo) and things are a lot quieter here, but it's nice to see my parents and eat lots of Japanese food. But I do miss G and Berlin already . . . !

Just in case

It really doesn't matter how old I get; as far as my parents are concerned, I'm ten years old. (And yes, my mom actually did advise me not to talk to strangers.)

Moi moi!

We're heading back to Berlin tomorrow. Thanks Helsinki for your friendliness! We had an awesome time! I'm sure we'll be back again . . .

Helsinki: First Impressions

Moi! We've finally got Internet connection at our place in Helsinki so here are some scribbles from my first impressions of the city yesterday. Hello from the sunny and beautiful design (and Moomin!) capital of the world! (I'm seriously going nuts from the adorableness and have to stop myself from buying everything. So Japanese, I know!)

Moomin

The Moomins are the characters in an awesome series of comics written/illustrated by Finnish artist Tove Jansson. At some point in the 80s (I think), a Japanese company made an animated series based on the Moomins, which led to their explosive popularity in Japan...so random! I also wrote a bit about them in this entry from nearly 3 years ago.
