G is away and I filled my portfolio work quota of the day, so playing around with Photoshop alone at night. Reminds me of first year university.

Takoyaki Part II

Making takoyaki again (see previous post The Takoyaking), but this time without my mom's help. I panicked when I couldn't find any octopus at the Galleria but eventually did get a hold of some frozen octopuses at a nearby Asian supermarket. (5 euros for a kilo, not bad at all!) The problem was, these ones weren't washed and boiled and prepared like the previous ones, so we had to do some google research on how one goes about boiling and preparing octopus. We had some squishy slimy fun.

Sorry for the bad quality, was in a bit of a hurry to get some things done.

The Takoyaking

I just love the variety of and the differences between cafeteria food you get in different countries. Wasn't really a fan of the yellow Kohlrabi sauce, but hey, it could have been worse . . .

We did make something that wasn't cafeteria food, though: takoyaki! (savory, round octopus pancakes) Here's some pretty photos, a la PaRappa:

"M-I-X the flour (+egg, water, pickled ginger, and green onions) into the bowl! "

"Heat up the hot plate, now we're on a roll!"

"We're making us a (pan)cake that you've never seen before!"

"All we gotta do is apply the final touches."

I think we made about 68 in total. Yup. That was definitely enough for us.

Shitty day, hence double update

The last 24 hours has been pretty shitty. Hence the double updates today. (I know, it makes no sense.)

Anyway, this is the other cartoon I made for my portfolio to tie together with the other octopus drawings I made. Sorry again for the poor photo quality...but you get the idea! (And look! no stick figures this time!)

So yes. I've become well-acquainted with octopuses (octopi) in the last few weeks. Makes me kind of want to get one as a pet. Cute little baby octopus tentacles! Squeee!

Mollusk

Ach! Sorry for the lack of comics. I've been out and about today and haven't had a chance to draw/upload comics, but here's a preview of my hipstoctopus comic that I'm working on at the moment (in colour!).

The weather in Berlin has been (and apparently is going to stay) gorgeous. 20 degrees and sunny. I couldn't possibly ask for better weather anywhere else in the world. Oh man.

Hipstoctopus

Wargh! Missed an update on Sunday.

I'm not even sure why I started drawing octopuses (apparently this is the more common plural form), but I think I'm in octopus hell. Now that's all I'm drawing in order to give my portfolio some kind of a . . . theme. Something that binds the works together.

So yes. No proper comic today, but instead you get a picture of a hipstoctopus.

Le tired. A little bit of German homework, and it's bedtime.

Muscle Hangover

Morning update! (I'm procrastinating.)

"Muscle ache" in German literally translates to "muscle hangover." How appropriate is that? It totally makes sense. And this is why German is great . . . it makes sense. Usually.

And last night was great. G's family is supersweet. Aside from my brain overheating from using German, everything was lovely. :)

Off to make some calls and run some errands. And to colour my octopus drawing. mmm. Delicious octopus.
